Tom Adams -- CEO, Rosetta Stone

Swedish-born Tom Adams first started traveling the world selling copper and iron ore, and he witnessed the universal language struggles of doing business in far-flung regions. So after becoming CEO of the Rosetta Stone language-learning company in 2003, he started taking it global.

Adams, 39, spends 150 days on the road a year, flying to his offices in Seoul, Tokyo, London, and Munich, and drives at least once a week between Rosetta Stone's corporate headquarters in Arlington, Va., and its product-development base in Harrisonburg, Va., a two-hour trip.
