With a base sticker price of $90,200, Mercedes's flagship sedan got dinged by a $1.70 cost per mile and below-average reliability. Its overall value score was only half the average, and well below Consumer Reports' leader in this segment, the Lexus ES350. Customers remain loyal to the Mercedes brand, however, and S sales remain strong even though the car is beginning its seventh year on the market.
