Wei Hopeman leads a dual life. By day, the Citigroup managing director, who's based in Shanghai, invests in startups throughout Asia as the head of Citi Ventures for the region. By night, she turns her focus to the other side of the world, working a full shift with her American colleagues connecting those startups with Citi business units. After eight years of dealing with the 13-hour time difference and the 15-hour flight between Shanghai and New York -- not to mention trips across China and to India, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Palo Alto -- Hopeman has learned a few tricks. Here, the native of tiny Waynesboro, Va., shares them with the rest of us.
