Smart's electric car might actually be... smart

The electric car Smart ED is possibly the best value yet among zero emission cars.

Good for the city, obviously

Smart ED3

The Smart ED's not available in the U.S. yet -- we can expect it next spring -- but, based on the results of European testing, it should be good for about 90 miles on a full charge. This where the Smart's small size and light weight really help, at least in city driving. It means less weight to haul around. (On the highway, the Smart's stubby shape is actually a detriment because of its poor aerodynamics.)
