The Escape is a great little SUV, with excellent handling on dry roads. It's also available with a powerful turbocharged engine.
A couple of things to watch out for, though, are snug back seats and prices that can rise to nearly luxury vehicle levels once the options -- including an available self-parking system -- are piled on. (Base prices and fuel economy in this gallery are for the lowest price all-wheel-drive versions.)
