Shelby Raptor kicks insanity up a notch

It's hard to say exactly why an off-road pick-up needs 575 horsepower, but it's fun when it gets it.

Taking it off-road

Our time with the Shelby Raptor included a trip to Monticello Motor Club in Monticello, NY, which is, essentially, a country club for car nuts. Where most country clubs are built around a golf course, Monticello is built around a race track. Not everyone wants to golf, you know.

As if that weren't enough fun, the club also recently carved out a new off-road course that cuts through some nearby woodlands. It's rough enough that your typical fuel-efficient family crossover would probably get irretrievably stuck and it throws up some challenges even for a truck like this.
