The F-Type is Jaguar's modern take on the iconic E-type of the 1960s. Jaguar hasn't had a real two-seater since that classic, until now.
Robb Report calls the F-type more of a grand tourer than a real hard-core sports car. It's as much about style as performance. With a starting price of $92,000, the F-type V8 S is the best performing and best equipped version. It's got a 5-liter 495-horsepower supercharged V8 and quick-shifting 8-speed automatic transmission.
It was far from the most expensive contender in this category which included the Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport Vitesse, Lamborghini Aventador Roadster, McLaren 12C Spider and Mercedes-Benz SL63 AMG Roadster. Prices for those cars range from $146,000 for the Mercedes to $2.25 million for the Bugatti.
The redesigned pony car will offer better fuel economy, an improved ride and better handling, Ford says.
