The city has worked hard to keep the housing market stable, including partnering with local realtors to match up potential buyers with foreclosed homes.
That means great deals for those who get recruited by one of the area's many technology or alternative-energy firms. The city's biggest employer: Idaho National Laboratory, a nuclear reactor testing facility that employs more than 4,000 workers.
For outdoor types, Idaho Falls is just a quick road trip from Jackson Hole, Wyo., and Yellowstone National Park. And for those who want to stick closer to home, there's always the Snake River, which winds through the center of town.
