Best acquisition of 2012: Facebook buying Instagram. Yes, it was very expensive, and no, its not clear how Facebook will get its money's worth. But by snatching Instagram, Facebook got the platform with the greatest potential to disrupt the social media order. Better yet, it kept Instagram from going to powerful rivals like Twitter or Google.
