What makes it great: At L'Oréal, employees who are ready for a change can give their careers a makeover. Switching roles or departments is absolutely encouraged, says Sumita Banerjee, who spent her first nine years at the company as an engineer and now is L'Oréal USA's Vice President of Talent Recruitment.

Staffers also can work on products across a range of price points and brands -- like Maybelline, a drugstore favorite, and Giorgio Armani's beauty line, sold at department stores.

What they're looking for: With a goal of reaching 1 billion new consumers in the next 10 years, the international cosmetics company seeks diverse candidates who can connect with shoppers and help grow the business.

"We're looking for people who bring great entrepreneurial spirit," says Banerjee, adding they should "have a passion for the business of beauty."

Energy, resilience, and flexibility also are key. L'Oréal's internship program is a prime pool of talent for full-time hires, according to Banerjee. --L.G.
