Prices have been slipping on 42" and 55" HDTVs for the past couple of years, but 2011 is bound to bring the best deals yet.

"It's just a matter of technology getting better so they're not that hard to make comparatively, and the glass that they use used to be more expensive," said Pinsker of dealnews.com.

And as 55-inch TV prices come down, that makes the 42-inch TVs even less appealing.

"Why would you buy a 42-inch TV when you could get a 55-inch one?" asks Pinsker. "If you're a guy standing there looking at one for $500 and one for $600, you're saying, `For just a little more money, I can get this one, and look how much bigger it is.'"
