Northern controls 182,000 acres in the Bakken and Three Forks resources plays, and the company got good news in April when the United States Geological Survey doubled its estimate of recoverable oil in the area. Northern’s stock price is down 60% from an all-time high of 32.69 on Feb. 28. 2011, as earnings misses have hurt the company.
