Temasek Holdings
Country: Singapore
2007 rank: 12

Ho, 55, has presided over Temasek Holdings' remarkable growth streak. Since Ho took over in 2004, Singapore's state-owned investment company has doubled in size, to $130 billion in assets. She caught the financial world's attention last year when Temasek made a $5 billion bet on Merrill Lynch. Now that bet may already be paying off: If the Bank of America deal goes through, Temasek stands to add $1.5 billion to its bottom line.
