face off
(FORTUNE Magazine) – A show-biz couple has split, and for once we're fairly certain Angelina Jolie isn't to blame. CNBC analysts Larry Kudlow and Jim Cramer, who formerly shared the screen on Kudlow & Cramer, recently struck out on their own. Kudlow now helms Kudlow & Company at 5 P.M., while Cramer heads up Mad Money at 6 P.M. Here's how the two stack up. -- Reed Tucker KUDLOW & COMPANY VS. MAD MONEY Host's style KUDLOW & COMPANY Stares stony-faced into the camera while glued to a chair behind a desk. MAD MONEY Bounces around the studio freely, mops his brow, gestures wildly. Dress code KUDLOW & COMPANY Starched suit, shirt, tie, and hair. MAD MONEY Rumpled shirt, rolled-up sleeves. Ratings KUDLOW & COMPANY 0.2* MAD MONEY 0.1* Typical rant KUDLOW & COMPANY "With all due respect to the maestro, I want to suggest that his view is significantly wrong." MAD MONEY "Lemme give you rule No. 1 in this game: Unless you've been vaporized by nuclear weapons, you gotta buy on news of nukes." Signature bit KUDLOW & COMPANY "Kudlow's Money Politic$," a conservative commentary session featuring the host's most potent visual weapon: onscreen bullet points! MAD MONEY "The Lightning Round," a manic segment in which Cramer advises as many as 40 startled callers in ten minutes to buy, sell, or hold. Viewers feel KUDLOW & COMPANY Somewhat judged. MAD MONEY Vertigo coupled with mild stroke. *For March 2005. |
